About Golden Triangle / Silver Triangle
The quirky, artsy, eclectic neighborhood known as Golden Triangle just
south of the downtown business district, has undergone and is still
undergoing a dramatic transformation. Several upscale condominium and
townhome complexes have been built over the past several years, and
plenty more are under construction or in the planning stages. Golden
Triangle redevelopers envision it as a small town in the city, a
cosmopolitan, pedestrian-oriented village featuring open plazas,
terraces and small businesses, shops, galleries and sidewalk cafes. The
neighborhood's major appeal is its proximity to downtown and a number
of cultural amenities, including the Denver Art Museum, the Denver
Public Library, and Civic Center Park.
The area extends from
West Colfax Avenue to the north, and Lincoln Avenue to the east, across
to Speer, forming a triangle. With funky row homes and classic
bungalows, to modern high-end rentals, condo buildings, and lofts, the
art and culture of the neighborhood spills over into the homes.
The Silver Triangle, one of the more recent redefined areas of Denver,
sits north of the Golden Triangle. The borders of the Silver Triangle
are made up of Colfax, Speer, Larimer to 15th Street, and 15th Street
to Broadway. The area gets its name from a time when Denver was the
silver mining capital of the country and the Mining exchange was
located at 15th and Curtis.
The Silver Triangle now has the
Convention Center and Denver Center for Performing Arts as its most
notable landmarks. The Convention Center and Denver Center for
Performing Arts(DCPA) epitomize the area, but new residential
developments like the Spire, Four Seasons, and improvements to the 16th
St Mall are adding a new round-the-clock type feel to the area.
Existing homes in the area include a moderate sprinkling of condos and
lofts, as well as one of Denver’s original high-rise buildings. But
with projects currently planned and under construction, the area coined
the “Silver Triangle” will be adding an enormous amount of new
residences including several new high-rise buildings, many luxury
condos and lofts, and more!
City planners are gearing up the area
to become the “new LoDo” and have implemented the Theater District
Improvement plan. This is a well funded initiative to turn 14th St.
between Arapahoe and Stout into a Denver’s very own “Times Square” type
of area complete with wide screen electronic billboards advertising
local events, shows, and business in the area. This is the newest
micro-neighborhood and will certainly be an exciting area to live,
work, and play.
